Kon'nichiwa all!
And hello again!
This is my second post TODAY, because I'm just so commited to this! I wanted to give everyone a taste of what this blog will be like before I start getting into deeper stuff. The book I'm reviewing in this post, my first offical post, is a book called Vampire Kisses by Ellen Schreiber [Had to Google how to spell her last name. xP]
BASICLY - This book's about a teenage Goth-girl named Raven Madison who lives in a town she called "Dullsville" where she's always felt like an outsider. The only friend she finds herself with is a farm-girl named Becky. Just when she thought Dullsville couldn't get any worse, rumors of a vampire family moving into the abandoned "haunted" mansion on top of Benson hill outbreaks, a teenage boy being the target to most. As Raven uncovers more about the mansion and the family living in it, she finds herself falling for the boy, Alexander Sterling. While her and Alexander grow closer together, Raven's problems start to form.
MY OPINIONS - I got this book two Christmases ago, after I read about it online. I started reading it around five in the morning, and didn't stop until I was completely done. Of course, I re-read it for this post, and I found that despite how dark it may seem reading about it, it's really a funny book. Raven is a hilariously bold girl, and was suprised by how out-there the things she does are, like sneaking into houses, and pulling a friggin' hilarious prank on the town's "It" boy. Yes, there are the serious parts, and the last two parts in this book are where they are more focused on it, but that's what really got me into liking this book.
WHO I THINK SHOULD READ - I think all gothic teenage girls should read this. I really found Raven an inspiration. I read the manga-styled books, Blood Relations, and I found myself trying to buy clothes that looked like hers! Although I say this, I don't think more mature vampire readers that favors books by Anne Rice wouldn't enjoy this book quite as much. Yes, it has vampires that stick to the original Dracula, and they are all pretty much derived from Romania, but it's more a teenager-ish rated book in my opinion. The relationship between Alexander and Raven, although she says "he's the one", it seems to be more of a first-love, puppyish type. That's why I believe it's a Teen book.
Well, that's all I can really say about this book. It was good, one of my favorites. I'd recommend for you to read it. See? That wasn't that painfully boring, was it?!
Thanks for reading!
